The Swiss ICT Investor Club (SICTIC) and Agire Foundation, Innovation Agency for southern Switzerland, announce a formal partnership to further develop the start-up ecosystem in Ticino.
SICTIC is strengthening its presence in Ticino, as the region offers excellent research and engineering talent, ambitious entrepreneurs and a strong start-up support system. In the past years, SICTIC has run a yearly Investor Day event in Lugano and participated as event partner at the Startup INVEST Venture Day in Ticino, organized in cooperation with Centro Promozione Start-UP USI and Agire Foundation. Thanks to these activities, a small and active group of SICTIC angel investors has already formed in Lugano. Agire is the innovation agency of southern Switzerland, run as a public-private partnership since 2011. It promotes local innovation, entrepreneurship and economic competitiveness, targeting the creation of high-skilled jobs in Ticino. Under the terms of the agreement, Agire Foundation will officially represent SICTIC in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. The two organizations will jointly offer investor events in Ticino and engage in further growing the small but vibrant local angel investor community. Lorenzo Ambrosini, CEO of Agire, Luca Bolzani, President of Agire and Barbara Vannin Startup Initiatives, who will run the SICTIC Office, are looking forward to a fruitful cooperation. With SICTIC offices in Zurich, at EPFL Innovation Park in Lausanne and at Fondazione Agire in Lugano, SICTIC is now represented in three different language regions of Switzerland and is a true Switzerland wide network of angel investors and easy to reach by start-ups and angel investors.
