Description:
The Events Manager is a driving force of SICTIC’s own and partner events and is responsible for efficient and high quality execution of the events.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Organize SICTIC Investor Days
- Conceptualise, lead and organize multiple events in parallel
- Work on budgets and financials for events
- Win event partners that financially support SICTIC’s events
- Event partners account management
- Manage relationships with all event stakeholders (hosts, speakers, partners, etc.)
- Reporting about events for social media and our annual reports
- Coordination of matchmaking between startup founders and investors
What is expected to do:
- Takes the lead for events
- Take responsibility for events (initiation, planning, execution, quality control, feedback gathering, implementing improvements, making events more impactful)
- Writes event concept and keeps it up-to-date
- Responsible for writing the event budget, keeping control of spending, and income and taking appropriate action where needed
- Escalates to the operating team or the board if needed (strategy decisions, major issues etc.)
- Knows the resources needed (human resources, financials, event equipment, dependencies etc.)
- Negotiating mutually beneficial event contracts and new partnerships (with support from the board)
- Project controlling (timeplan, milestones, quality control, financials)
- Takes decision within the event concept
- Leads the event team (ops team members, interns etc.)
- Coordinates with external services providers
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
- Excellent proactive communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Outstanding organizational abilities & capability to run events
- Strong experience with organizing multi-stakeholder events of more than 100 attendees with many speakers (think startup pitches)
- Strong knowledge of event management tools
- Newsletter writing (in English) to announce events and ecosystem news
- Proposing and winning great keynote speakers for our events
- Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
- Comfortable with working independently
- Experience with using digital tools to automate work and to communicate virtually
- High reliability and self-discipline
- Good at multitasking
- Fluency in English and German (written and spoken)
- Availability in the evenings for events
- Valid Swiss work permit
Plus:
- Moderation of events and panels
- Knowledge of online digital marketing & social media platform management
- Knowledge of the Swiss startup ecosystem
- Experience with automation of tasks with Zapier, Hubspot etc.
- French language skills
Deliverables:
- Yearly event planning schedule in collaboration with other operating team and the board
- Organise per year about 15 events with 80-250 (physical) / 80-400 (online) attendees
- Organize 1-2 annual flagship events with keynote speakers, panels, booths, apero etc.
- Organise various smaller internal or community events
- Source and secure new and unique venues for events
- Day to day management and assessment of events
- Events KPIs and attendee feedback analysis
- Reports on efficiency and profitability of events
- Event-specific newsletters and communications
- Acquire financial resources to ensure the profitability of SICTIC events
Place of work:
We provide a co-working place in Zürich and/or you can work remotely from home within Switzerland. From day one you can work independently and take on responsibility for your duties and deliverables. About half of the events take place in or near Zürich, the rest in Lausanne or Geneva and other locations in Switzerland.
